You are my son. I’ve seen enough in you to know that you will make me proud.

Take a second and watch this. Its to demonstrate how great an actor Colin Morgan is. This is a scene from Merlin, where Merlin, his father Balinor (who Merlin had only just met for the first time in his life, and is played by the amazing John Lynch) and Arthur are attacked. Worst comes to worst and Balinor is fatally wounded. Colin exposes his emotions so well in this scene, his devastation and anger at the enemy who has wounded his father, the breaking down as he sees Balinor is dying, and eventually the utter heartbreak as Balinor takes his last breath.

It’s a scene I rarely remain dry-eyed watching. It’s one of many that show how, frankly, brilliant he is. Its difficult to think he’s so young and this is his first real “big break”. Just take 2 minutes to watch it.

On a side note, Bradley James’ (Arthur) reaction to Balinor’s death is great too. Pat on the back for the casting directors

I only just now realized that John Lynch is from Northern Ireland like Colin.  /slow

30 Days of Merlin
Day 23 - A scene that made you cry
2.13 - The Last Dragonlord
Well it didn’t really me cry, but I thought it was very sad for Merlin to find his father and then lose him so soon :(

This scene.  ;__;
